Contact lense advice??

I am a daily wearer of prescription contact lenses, and for Halloween I wanted to try a colour lense in one eye, just a standard one you buy not my prescription, I’m wondering if I can wear one of my prescription lenses and then the standard one in my other eye? I am aware my vision won’t be perfect but for a few hours I can manage with this. I am more worried about if this can cause any damage to my eyes?
thanks in advance :))

I’ve worn contact lenses for 40 years. There’s no way I’d put some random lens in my eye without talking to my lens optician first.

It won’t cause damage but it will probably give you a headache as your brain will be confused as to why one eye is blurred. Seconding the PP, I would never put a random non prescription lens in my eye, god knows where it’s come from, what’s it’s made from and how clean it is. Not worth the risk

Just to put it out there the lense isn’t just a random contact lense as such I have done research into the best brands and this one was one of them and looked into what it’s made from and being FDA approved etc and it reads well, But yes I understand where you are coming from and that is why i’m skeptical on whether to use or not. Thanks for your reply maybe I will speak to the opticians first for their advice.

I don’t know why you would get a headache as PP suggested. I sometimes have one lens in and manage OK, I think the brain sorts out the messages it’s getting.

I wouldn't risk a coloured lens but I often wear just one contact lens in alternate eyes. It's not a problem at all. My optician said it's quite common.

Don't drive like it though.

Surely it depends on what your eyesight is like?

I have minus 8 and would definitely not manage with only one contact lens for a few hours. I imagine it’s less of an issue if your eyesight only needs slight correction?
