Blood in urine

Posted in women's health too

Yesterday evening I went to the toilet and noticed that my wee was pink

Thought I was due on my period so put a pad on

Went to the toilet again, and again more slightly pink wee. Nothing on paper when wiping.

No pain when weeing
No period
Only other 'symptoms' would be feeling exhausted a fair bit (I do have two young kids tho) and I sometimes get some pain in my pelvis like stiffness if that makes sense

Any ideas? I will call the Gp in the morning of course.

UTI, you need antibiotics.

IrresponsiblyCertainAboutSexualDimorphism · 25/10/2023 21:39

You haven’t been eating loads of beetroot have you?

febbabies2023 · 25/10/2023 21:40

@IrresponsiblyCertainAboutSexualDimorphism nope, I don't like beetroot 😂

@INeedAnotherName would I not have pain or stinging etc with a UTI?

It could be a urinary tract infection or maybe tiny stones in your urinary tract.

Muddle2000 · 29/10/2023 09:57

It COULD be,cancer Unlikely but get it checked

This. It is very, very unlikely but bladder cancer can easily be dealt with if caught early (essentially scraped out most of the time). No one can afford to miss the chance for an easy cure.

It is more likely a UTI and will need antibiotics prescribed in order to clear up fully.

Kidney stone is a possibility, I would go to AnE

This was my first thought (because who doesn't jump to worst case scenario 😂)

2 days after I posted this I came on my period so I'm just waiting for that to finish before I visit the GP

U can never be sure My neighbour had blood in her urine
But all good now !

febbabies2023 · 03/11/2023 10:37

You'll be pleased to know I went to the GP today.

No answers at the moment unfortunately but I've done a urine sample which will be dipped and sent off and the dr has also requested blood tests as well - I got the impression that he didn't think it was a UTI but I guess we will see.

Very glad to hear this, OP. Do let us know if we can help.

febbabies2023 · 03/11/2023 16:55

GP has confirmed that the urine sample was negative and therefore not a UTI

Hoping it's nothing serious obviously, but with other symptoms too it's hard to jump to conclusions. Now a 2 week wait for a blood test and then waiting for results.
