Propranolol - late onset side effects?

Hi,
Short question - can side effects start many months after beginning to take a drug?

Longer version. I first took regular propranolol for migraine and it worked really well. Unfortunately it disturbed my sleep and I eventually decided I'd rather have migraines. Interestingly, the migraines did not come back for a year or so. The GP put me on a sustained release propranolol which again stopped the migraines but until recently had no effect on sleep.
For a few weeks my sleep has been disturbed. I wake up all the time. I take other sedating medication and have no problem getting back to sleep but it has begun to get me down.
Also I had a migraine after months of being migraine free. I began to think I have been taking the wrong meds by mistake but no.
I took a night off the Propranolol and slept wonderfully. I tried taking it in the morning and slept badly, took another night off and STILL slept badly so now I've no clue.
I know the obvious answer is to go back to the GP but easier said than done around here.
Has anyone experienced this?

I was taking propranolol to protect against migraines however after keeping a migraine diary noticed that they clustered around certain times of the month, so they were obviously hormonal. Went back on the mini pill and have gone from up to 3 a week to none for 3+ years. I would also get your blood pressure checked as mine was high. Grin

Thank you!
Yeah it could be a perimenopausal thing. I tend to have symptoms every now and then - not often - but a bit more at the moment. I've been on the mini pill for years so no periods. My migraines were stress related.

Oh yeah and my blood pressure was becoming an issue before the Propranolol sorted it out which is inconvenient.

I have been taking propranolol for almost years and I am 44 - the sleep issue sounds like peri menopause - consider melatonin
