Piercing stuck beneath skin

Hi everyone, please help?!

I got my forward helix pierced in my ear in April. Followed all the aftercare etc, thought it was healing well until I’ve recently discovered that the ball has disappeared underneath my skin - like skin has grown on top of it 😟😟 I’m really scared!

the piercing shop I went to is closed until Wednesday - what do you think I should do?! I’m not even sure what they’re gonna be able to do now. Do I need to go to A&E?

the Skin grew over the ball on my tongue piercing. I got referee to hospital and they cut it out. The piercer couldn’t do anything by that point. My friend was a piercer and she had tried and failed to cut it out.
It was a really simple procedure. It only took a few seconds in the hospital.

Update: so thankful for our NHS 💙
piercing is now safely removed.

Do you have to let this heal back up again now?

Yes I do, but I’ve decided not to get it repierced or anything. I’m just going to let it heal.

My child had her ear pierced. And her discovered the other day he ear had grown over the back on one ear. So he took it out. But it sounds like he got it before your stage.

I had never heard of it before.

Me either to be honest. I guess it’s just one of those things and it can just happen to people. Been fine with all my other piercings though!

the doctor who removed it today even said the same thing happened to her piercing o n her lobe and she left it stuck in for 6 months!

Just wanted to come on here and say that my conch recently has become fully embedded and this seemed to have happened almost overnight. I had bumped 2 days prier and noticed bleeding the next day, the day after that there was a scab over the front of the piercing I did manage to remove the scab yet skin had grown over it already. I cleaned it 2-3 times a day before this and it had already been healed. Sometimes these things happen and are not the persons fault.
