Constantly getting cystitis

I have been in a new relationship for a couple of months. As is common in new relationships we are at it like rabbits 😂

The trouble is I have got cystitis 3 times now!! This is my 3rd lot of antibiotics.
I ensure I go for a wee before and after sex, but don't know where else I'm going wrong. I should point out my new partner is well endowed and I did wonder if this may be related.

Has anyone been through this and knows a solution? I'm worried I will become resistant to the antibiotics!

In the past, when I kept getting it after sex the doctor prescribed 1 50mg tablet of Nitrofurantoin as a preventative after each time I had sex. Really worked for me. I eventually kept forgetting to take it and the UTI's seemed to stop. I think maybe your body gets used to the new person?... No medical knowledge of that, just my own thoughts?!

How old are you? Could it be menopause? I know I was constantly thinking I had thrush - I spent a fortune on canesten. All cleared up in a few days of starting HRT.

Ohhh this sounds like a good plan! Thank you very much, I will ask my doc if this is possible!

No I'm in my early thirties, but coincidentally the antibiotics cause thrush too 🙄the joys of being a woman!

Pee as soon as you can after the deed is over. I mean as soon as. No snuggling until you have had a wee. I used to get cystitis on the regular, haven't had it once in seven years since instigating this rule.

I think I've been guilty of not getting to the loo straight away! Thank you!

Ahhh I see you already said about going for a wee. Apologies, that'll teach me to RTFP.

D mannose. Get yourself some D mannose and take it every single day.
Also if you are of menopause age, get down the doc.
I got cystitis as a teenager a lot. Didn't get it for 30 years. Came back when I hit menopause.
4 attacks in 3 months. 4 lots of antibiotics.
Then doc put me on Vagifem and HRT and it has never been a problem since.
My children moved out so we had a LOT more freetime lol and I thought that was causing it. But it wasn't it was menopause.

I used to suffer a lot but waterfall d-mannouse has pretty much cured me. Antibiotics never helped me. You can get it on Amazon.

Good luck!

Doteycat · 21/10/2023 21:22

Just saw your age.
D mannose is what you need.

Guilt? It’s your health. Quick nip to the loo & if doesn’t support that, get rid.
