Still queasy two days after seasickness

A couple of days ago I went on an ocean high speed boat tour that left me unexpectedly seasick. I’ve had motion sickness before but I don’t usually get seasick.

It was the sickest I’ve felt in years. The nausea came on so quickly that all I could do was run to vomit over the side of the boat. I was clammy and shivering. Just awful.

After I got off I looked in the bathroom mirror and I swear I looked green. My friends told me I looked really ill and pale.

The extreme nausea and vomiting stopped as soon as I got off the boat but my stomach hasn’t been the same since. Even now, two days later I haven’t go my appetite back and my stomach is gurgling and unsettled. I’m eating but the food just isn’t sitting right in my stomach.

Can this happen with a bad bout of seasickness?

Might be ‘sea-legs’ although I’ve only had it after longer at sea. Lots of ginger and green apples (slowly eat slices of them) should help. I’ve found it can last a few days, so some anti nausea meds might help too.

I’ve found, though after longer at sea than that…ferry crossings, that it can take a few days to feel right. Peppermint tea with honey and ginger biscuits.

It was only a 3 hour boat trip as part of a longer day tour. The boat was more speed boat than cruise boat and it was in pretty choppy sea. I stupidly sat at the front where I couldn’t see over the side of the boat properly which didn’t help.

I was pretty ill so I guess it’s not surprising that I’m still not right but very frustrating. At the moment I can’t even watch TV shows about food!
