Labyrinthitis? Literally a virus that makes you dizzy

MarilynBoo · 16/10/2023 20:57

I developed labyrinthitis shortly after having COVID, so could be that?

Starrrz · 16/10/2023 21:13

So ive had covid 4 times which has left me
with pots, facial pain , joint pain etc.

this dizzyness was different to my normal dizzyness.

i tested for covid today and it was negative. Had an OP last week and really didnt want to catch anything. Hope i go back to normal xx

It took about 3 to 4 weeks for the labyrinthitis to go. I was getting a very weird dizzy sensation when turning my head at certain angles, looking upwards and when laying down. Then I woke up one day and it was gone! Symptoms started about a week after recovering from COVID. I've had labyrinthitis before, years before COVID, so it might be that I'm susceptible to it following a virus. By the way, I tested negative for COVID for 3 days before testing positive. I hope your dizziness isn't too bad and you recover soon 💐

Vertigo? I get BPPV and it feels much as you've described

Starrrz · 16/10/2023 21:52

@LateMumma yes it does sound like that. Do u think it will ease? Or does it stay? I always get dizzyness due to my pots but its a different type. X

There's something called an Epley (I think)) manoeuvre that trained GPS can do. It's like magic, but check first that your GP can do it. You can also do Brandt Daroff exercises which mimic this, not as effective for me, but they do help. It can last anything from a day to weeks without treatment, and comes on with no warning. The good news though is that it can be helped with the above. Hope you get it sorted soon

Lucyintheskywithlove · 18/10/2023 16:58

I feel like this at the moment.
I have raging earache, so I'm assuming that's what is throwing me off balance.
I struggled to walk in a straight line today.

Starrrz · 18/10/2023 23:08

@Lucyintheskywithlove oo no :( hope your ok! Any other symptoms?

it sucks doesnt it xx
