If it is completely off - put it on ice and get to A&E- hanging off - bandage/ice & A&E

Go to a and e with the tip of his finger.

AnotherCountryMummy · 14/10/2023 21:12

Omg! Get to A&E ASAP!! And ice the finger tip.

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 14/10/2023 21:17

A and e!!!!!!!!!!!!

CyberCritical · 14/10/2023 21:21

How much of the tip are you talking about?

Basically just skinned it then not much anyone can do other than clean and put a non stick dressing on. Taken a chunk off and you need to get to A&E for a proper look and either reattachment or stitching.

My dad cut off the tips of 3 fingers on his right hand with a table saw twice. First time they re-attached, second time they stitched up the tip just below where the nail bed should have been.

Thanks all , it's stopping bleeding now and not as bad as looked initially but still grim . Can't be stitched or found as it's in the veg yuk

I think you’re supposed to put it in milk. And get to A&E.
Scratch that. I just googled it. Not milk. Ice.

TinChristmas · 14/10/2023 22:05

I’d be going to A&E. You can have it cleaned and checked and referred for further care if needed.

Notcookie · 14/10/2023 22:07

Why can't you find it in the veg?!

HidingFromDD · 14/10/2023 22:13

My mum did this decades ago. She had to have a skin graft. It’s a&e

SD1978 · 14/10/2023 23:02

Depending on how much, there isn't much they can do, but it should be properly dressed- they can probably do that at triage

Totalblindnessofthesoul · 14/10/2023 23:05

Many decades ago this happened to my grandad and he sellotaped it back on and it worked 🤢

Its 2023. Go to the hospital.

Tanfastic · 14/10/2023 23:05

If it's just the skin I wouldn't be too concerned but if it's the tip through to the bone then you need A&E!

I have had a partially severed fingertip (hanging by a tiny flap of skin) with a complete fracture and nearly lost it after my dog bit it off. He took a chunk out of the side too which he ate Envy but by some miracle they managed to save my fingertip although I have a very interesting scar and no feeling in it. I had three days in hospital but that was mostly cos it was a dog bite and I had to have iv antibiotics.

SadBadApple · 14/10/2023 23:09

Definitely go to the hospital

LIZS · 14/10/2023 23:09

You need it checked in case you have damaged deeper tissues and cleaned to prevent infection.
