Is this shingles?

Bloody hell.

For the last 24/48 hours I’ve had a bit of redness and swelling start on my eyebrow/eyelid on one eye, with occasional tingling in my face on that one side. Now my eyebrow redness is tingly and s bit itchy.

at first I thought it was a big bite but I have had tingling up by my forehead and onto my nose on that size too.

it sounds like shingles doesn’t it? How long until it blisters? As it’s just redness and swelling right now.

I really didn’t want shingles yet, I’m only 27😂

Shingles isn't age related. It doesn't sound like shingles to me though.

Take an antihistamine and see if it helps?

I had similar aged 30. Please get it checked (just incase it is) 13 years later I have ongoing issues (that affect my arm, head, neck, eye and face) because the first gp didn't recognise it as shingles as most of the rash was inside my eye. You need to start the medication as early as possible with shingles. I also had to see an ophthalmic specialist within 24 hours of my diagnosis.

Not sure but you can get shingles at any age. My daughter had it age 8 and my nephew age 12.

I had shingles earlier this year. It started out me thinking I'd been bitten.

You need anti virals asap especially if it is on your face. Don't hang about.

Thanks all, trying to get an out of hours appointment at MIU this morning for them to take a look. Quite swollen this morning and more tingles over my face and head in the one side. My best guess is shingles at the moment.

I had shingles at 28. The antivirals make a MASSIVE difference so it's important to find out as soon as you can and get on the medicine if possible.

If you're having trouble getting a GP appointment, go to a pharmacist and if they agree it looks like shingles then phone the out-of-hours GP or go to the hospital. I wouldn't mess around with it on an eye.

I’ve been to MIU this morning and they said shingles straight away. I’ve been given some tablets which are bloomin’ massive! Hopefully that’s the end of it.

Gutted as me and DH had a booking at a nice restaurant tonight to celebrate our marriage but online says makeup can make it worse/last longer so we’ll have to cancel.. I can’t go out with a gammy swollen eye can I?!😂

All the 'action' is in your spinal cord not the actual skin, so I wouldn't imagine makeup makes any difference. The only real concern is coming into contact with babies or pregnant women and passing it on. Glad you got the antivirals quickly and hope you can celebrate your marriage another less shingley time!
