Pain and bleeding during and after sex

NC.

I am on the depot contraceptive injection. But recently I have been experiencing severe pain during sex, to the point we have to stop. It's excruciating. I have also been bleeding for about 2.5 weeks now, but I do think it's my contraception. It's pain that's bothering me the most. I was treated for a UTI recently so I don't think it's that. Any experiences or advice welcome?

thanks!

Have you made an dr appointment? If not get on to the GP straight away who will refer you to gyne. The waitlists are long so don’t put it off.

My money would be on endometriosis. https://www.endometriosis-uk.org/ are a good website if you wanted to look into it and see what you think.

What sort of pain are you experiencing? Is it dry/rubbing/tearing pain from lack of lubrication? Or sharp stabbing pain? Or dull muscular pain?

I don't have any advice, but if you can describe your pain a bit more descriptively it might help others to help you?

It's a pain all in my pelvic area, like a muscle pain with burning in my vagina also. And then the constant bleeding.

I rang my GP this morning as I'm having pain now. I'm also very bloated but that could be unrelated. Anyway, she wants to do an examination later on, so I'll let you know that goes.

I've seen the GP and I have an inflamed cervix along with the pain, she thinks it might be an infection so has a actually sent me to be seen at the hospital! I'm very shocked! I don't know why my cervix would be inflamed. I don't have any STD or STI I am aware of! I had a baby 5 months ago too, c section but maybe it's that?

Sent you to be seen at the hospital as in you’re there right now or referred you? I’m glad you’ve found the start of an answer at least.

No I am here as in now for bloods etc

How did you get on? I hope they were able to help, and work out what's going on.

I had similar and it was an enormous solid tumor growing on my ovary.

A few weeks later I had major abdominal surgary to remove it urgently.

I was on depo years ago and I bled constantly, I eventually came off it because it just wasn’t worth it x

Thanks for the replies.
They said the bleeding is a bit of a red herring and likely due to the contraception I'm on. And although I don't have any risk factors for PID because of the pain I'm in they are treating me for it as a precaution. I'm very glad I went!

Have you had a smear, my doctor wasn’t concerned at all but after it kept happening agreed to an ultrasound which was clear, 6 months later I had my routine smear and ended up losing a lot of my cervix as had CIN3 cells

Nc6789 · 15/10/2023 10:11

Sorry you went through that. 💐
My smears have been all normal and I'm not due one for a while now (not sure how long)
