Hello,
I did my Fit test Monday and doctor called today with positive result, it is >400 so has really worried me. He has sent the referral to the lower GI consultant and said I will need a colonoscopy.
I have had bright red blood in stools over last few months (but couldn’t see any in that sample) , I urgently have to go and have been caught short a few times. I go to the toilet 12+ times a day and it’s stopping me from leaving the house, always loose, skinny stools. I have deranged liver function tests and currently having blood tests every 2 weeks to monitor that. I am also anaemic. Im not really sure why I have listed all my symptoms I think my anxiety is just playing havoc on me because of them.

I just wanted to know from anyone who has been referred how long it took before they heard anything and if it was a phone call/consultant appointment within the 2 ww(or thereabouts depending on the trust i know it’s not always 2 weeks) and then had to wait longer for the actual colonoscopy. Or if you just got an appointment through for the colonoscopy with no prior consultation.

thank you.

My fit test was 200.

I have never seen any blood.

I had a phone call in the 2ww to say I would be having a colonoscopy.

The colonoscopy found multiple polyps. One was removed but I was told the others were to big to be removed. Since found out the dr actually didn't have the time.

An appointment for the sigmoidoscopy was made. It was months after the colonoscopy. When the time came I had started the pre procedure diet when it was cancelled because apparently I was booked in with someone who didn't have the experience to do polos the size I had.

They didn't rearrange the appointment. In the end I rang and got seen at another hospital.

In my area it's a 8 week wait for histology results.

Not sure if any of that helped you!
It wasn't

Also I was badly anaemic and it was only after they looked at my ovaries and womb lining etc that the dr suggested a fit test. This was despite me describing. Digestive changes at my first appointment.

Thank you, sounds like you didn’t get the best treatment from the hospital, glad you got it all sorted in the end, must have been a worrying time.

from when they called you to say you were going to have a colonoscopy how long was it till you did? Was that another 2 weeks or longer?

Was longer than two weeks. I'll see if I can find the dates in the morning.

I had a colonoscopy this year
& had polyps removed. &

The prep for it - is worse than the actual procedure

I was referred on 2 week wait pathway for <400 on FIT and passing blood/mucus in my poo.

I had a call from hospital a day or two after referral booking me in for a CT scan which I only waited a few days for and was booked to have a colonoscopy exactly 2 weeks after the referral. This showed inflammatory bowel disease - they tell you the results straight after the colonoscopy. Biopsies took around 6 weeks to be reported

I'm now waiting for an urgent GI referral - 3 months and no sign of an appt yet though
