Abnormal ESR reading

Hi

Please can anyone help?

I suffer with HA so seeing abnormal results can be triggering for me and I find myself finding answers from Google.

I am currently unwell and have been for 2 weeks. I swear it's been covid but every test is coming back negative. Anyway two weeks in and I still feel absolutely terrible. Full body aches, migraines, sinus pain, eye pain, breathless. I feel like im being crushed. It is really getting me down now trying to understand why my body cant get better. I was sent for bloods as I have been frequently unwell, picking up lots of infections and bugs over the last 12 to 18 months. And if I haven't been poorly I've felt completely exhausted and burnt out which has of course had a massive knock on effect to my mental health.

On my blood results my ESR is flagged red as abnormal. When I googled what the symptoms are, all what I am feeling and it's getting me down. But now I can feel my anxiety kicking in. I cant speak to the doctor until tomorrow but what can an abnormal ESR be an indicator of?

I just want to feel better. Part of me was shocked when everything else came back normal. But it has scared me seeing that I do have an abnormal reading which aligns with how I am feeling.

Thanks in advance

When did you have the bloods done ? A high ESR can be caused by a viral infection which you currently have .. try not to panic .. my inflammatory markers have been up since I had covid in 2020 but I do have long covid ..

Also have you had your iron levels checked ?

I had them done on Monday.

I'm currently signed off and meant to return next week but I'm getting really anxious that I am not feeling better, not even a small amount.

It’s probably because you still have the virus .. there are some very odd viruses doing the rounds that are outstaying their welcome .. I’m still feeling rotten after falling I’ll three weeks ago .. (not covid )

I've seen a few other threads and it seems to be the case. It's put my mind at rest at least. Thank you
