subcutaneous injection - painful lump

I've been put on a blood thinner for pregnancy and I'm injecting once a day. It's been fine so far - a bit of bruising which is to be expected, and I've been injecting into a different location on my stomach every day.

This morning's injection was difficult, and now the site has swelled up into a hard, painful lump which is quite large. This hasn't happened before. could it be a serious injury? Maybe I accidentally pushed the needle in too far and hit muscle?

I'm inclined to just let it heal and avoid injecting near the area until the swelling has gone completely, but is this stupid/risky and does this need to be checked?

The nurse at the clinic who showed me how to inject said I could come back if I was having trouble with the injections, but they are always so busy and it's also a bit of a hassle for me to get there so I'd rather not go in if it's unlikely to be something serious.
