How to treat painful gums?

My gums above one of my top teeth are throbbing
It's not the tooth it's deffo the gums
Red and inflamed and looks like a white line between tooth and gum
Pain is going into my ear
I've started with salt mouthwash and ordered mouthwash.
I think I have gingivitis as the dentist did mention this to me years ago -and I was given mouthwash
I go through stages of achy gums and it goes away
Do you think I might need antibiotics?

You say mouthwash but that could mean anything.
