Broken shoulder - so tired.

I'm currently stuck at home with a shoulder I broke 12 days ago. I've fractured the socket end of the shoulder blade so I'm wearing a sling. Physio starts next week. It's a real bind because it is my right arm as well and I can't drive for 6 weeks 😪

I'm not in pain now unless I move the arm too much but I'm SO tired! Don't know if it's the sitting around all day or if it's all the effort of using my left hand for everything. Just walking quarter of a mile to my local shop and I'm knackered! Had to defrost my freezer yesterday as it was iced up and had to stop to rest as the effort made me queasy! I'm sleeping OK.

Anyone else experienced this tiredness with a broken bone?

It's your body trying to heal itself. I think I remember your other post ,you had very unrealistic expectations about how bad broken bones are! You will be shattered, rest up, take pain killers, do your physio (expect to be really tired from that!) and don't push yourself 💐

I've done exactly the same thing and to be honest it was a few weeks before I felt alright, but then I suddenly did. One thing I found was that it made me very frightened and nervous. I just didn't trust my own judgement when I was walking. That's a bit better now but that feeling is still there several months on.

@determinedtomakethiswork yes I feel vulnerable and a bit frightened walking outside especially as I'm wondering if it was my boot or my bunion that caused me to trip.
@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor yes I was feeling sorry for myself and I think my DP's 'unrealistic expectations' rubbed off on me. He seems to think I can start driving before 6 weeks and shouldn't be 'stringing this out'! I have no intention of driving or jeopardising my recovery just because he is secretly pissed off having to run our joint business without me!

I had the same when I broke my ankle... sleep as much as you need your body is working on healing

I would also suggest you don't pin your hopes on suddenly beng able to drive at the 6 week mark, you might need quite a bit of physio first. Your Dh doesn't sound very kind 😢

My friend broke her shoulder, she never left the house unless for physio for 3 months, she was in so much pain.
