GERD - What CAN I eat?

So I've been referred for an urgency gastroscopy due to my insides/gut being in bits, acid reflux off the scale etc etc.

I understand tomatoes, onion, garlic, caffeine, alcohol, processed meats, spices, excess fatty foods are out. What can I eat though?

I was about to strip it all back anyway and reduce my carbs right down as I need to lose a couple of stone and this works for me, but is onion and garlic powder included in this? I use both in everything! What else can I use to flavour lean meats and fish? Are eggs ok?

Boiled, cooled potatoes, you can add cooked courgette and carrot. Boiled rice, plain.
NO onion, garlic, spices, etc.. White yogurt or kefir works for some people.
Soft omelette, boiled eggs.

I honestly think it varies from person to person - you have to experiment a bit. For a while when mine was bad I survived on noodles with chicken broth, mash and plain toast.

Since I have a very loose lower esophogeal sphincter (it's genetic) I pretty much always avoid tomatos, citrus, spicy food, caffeine and mint. I can have small amounts of chocolate, alcohol, fizzy drinks, fried foods, onion and garlic when my stomach isn't irritated.

My general diet at the moment is soups and white bread, chicken or fish and salad (I do have full fat mayo with that with no issues), jacket potatoes with a little butter and cheese, pesto pasta and various green veg.

Thanks both. I think I'll be super strict at first and see what I can tolerate and what sets me off.
