Tonsilectomy pain - in agony

Just that. Am on day 5 and the pain is immense. I have ibuprofen and Cocodamol 30/500 but only meant to take 4 times a day so they don’t stretch far enough before the painkillers start to wear off.i did ask for better painkillers but the hospital wouldn’t give me any :( it’s “not bad enough” apparently. I beg to differ.

will the gp give me anything else? Also surely I’m at the peak here - this is unbearable. :(

Oh, you poor, poor thing.
I'm glad you're getting a GP ring back.
I really think they need to examine you via an online consult for signs of infection.

My DD had hers out aged 22.
She NEVER complains...even when she had Tonsillitis so badly she was admitted with Quinsey and needed IV antibiotics...BUT, after her tonsillectomy she was in so much pain, I watched as silent tears fell down her face. She was in so much pain, she couldn't even make the noise to cry.

OP, she had an infection, PLEASE insist on being seen, even online, a HCP could see signs of uvula infection.
Sending you energy and hope.

Having said all the above, infection or no, the pain of tonsillectomy is harrowing bad.

Really hope the GP can help

Thanks. Don’t think it’s an infection tbh- no temp or any of the other signs.

Doc is giving me diclofenac to replace the (useless) ibuprofen with. I’m also getting hold of some difflam spray - so here’s hoping.
