do any of these symptoms sound normal? I have UC for 10 years, my main regular symptoms are loose stools with cramps and pain in lower stomach, urgency and frequency.

I have been experiencing some new symptoms over the past few weeks and I'm not sure if it's just another type of UC symptom or something else?

Symptoms are:

  • I feel nauseous after eating
  • I feel 'blocked' but from the stomach up, so from my abdomen above my belly button
  • I'm getting pain in my lower and upper back, a dull ache mostly, and also getting occasional shooting pains on my right side and I also have been feeling pain on my left side and in my chest - so my whole abdomen really.
  • Bloating in my upper stomach
  • Night sweats (not sure if this is connected but I've noticed this over the past couple of weeks)
  • Slight lack of appetite, like I want to eat but my body doesn't feel that hungry

I am waiting for a drs appoinment but wanted to see if any other UC sufferers had similar? I'm aware it's different for everyone!

Hi,

Sorry you're feeling so unwell, that sounds horrible. I have UC, been diagnosed 5 years. I wouldn't really associate any of your new symptoms with what I experience...like you, when my UC is flaring I experience lower abdominal cramps, urgency, diarrhoea and bleeding. I do frequently get other gastro symptoms like heartburn, bloating, tummy pain but I think this is because I also have IBS and suffer from anxiety and stress.

Have you contacted your ibd team? They might be better able to help than GP. Hope you get some help soon.
