Oh Pelvic, it's s shame we don't live earer to each other, we could go to adult numeracy together.
My maths is truley awful, and like you, I panic as soon as I see a maths question and thats it, I panic, can't do it and want to cry.

Dd1 had homework about factors the other day and asked me to check her answers, and I had to tell her I couldn't because I didn't know how to do it

Well it wasn't really a flounce, just left quietly last week, but got bored and came back.

I haven't read all the messages but some of the problems you lot seem to be describing with directional confusion and spatial relationships seem to be more than just a numerical problem and you may be interested in something called 'non-verbal learning difficulties'. There are lots of useful sites which provide strategies for managing the day-to-day problems, such as www.nldline.com.
