Flucloxicillin (evil)

I'm on a 7 day course of Flucloxicillin. Today is the start of day 4. Initially stomach was ok. But since yesterday it's not happy. I feel absolutely pants. Exhausted, achy,.stomach churning. Urgh.

Had Covid last week and put on antibiotics for mild infection/cellulitis in foot. I'm aware it's super important to finish the course of antibiotics.

Would I be unreasonable to ask to swap to a different antibiotic? Tried to phone docs, can't get through and automated message says all appts for today gone.

I can't deal with this tummy issues for another 4 days. Worried to go out as when you've got to go you've got to go. (sobs)

Not sure on what you should do, but I made day 4 yesterday of a 7 day course of Clarithromycin for a skin infection and I've not taken todays first dose as I can't deal with the constant nausea and stomach cramps. I've been awake since the very early hours in discomfort.
I have a penicillin allergy, so slightly more limited to what I can take, but last year I had doxycycline and had no effects from that whatsoever.

Can you change antibiotics halfway through?

DD didn’t get along with it either - apparently the achiness is a rare side effect and in some cases can become permanent so I wanted her switched ASAP after I found that out! GP had no problem in doing so.
Pretty much all antibiotics will give you an upset tummy though, taking strong probiotics + getting anti-nausea pills makes a big difference in our experience

Its definitely a killer on the stomach. Taking probiotics or kefir will help alleviate some of the symptoms.

Oh no - I've just been given a 5 day course after some nasty insect bit me last week.

Looks like I have an unpleasant week ahead of me. It's going to be hard enough timing the doses without feeling dreadful as well.
