Skin problems in DF - pics attached

Please help me understand what is going on with my poor DF's (86) skin. He is itching uncontrollably since months - went through extensive checks with the GP and specialists and they found nothing. He is miserable as it wakes him up at night.
Nothing seems to work permanently. I would be grateful if you could help me work out what this could be?

Bed bug bites?

Looks really sore. Eczema maybe? Does a very thin layer of Sudocrem help?

Could it be scabies?

Contact dermatitis? Mine can look like that. I also have other skin allergies that can cause such a reaction. Anti histamines and steroid ointments help me. And, of course, avoiding my triggers.

But surely he's been referred to dermatology and had allergy tests?

Has he been tested for coeliac disease? Dermatitis herpetiformis is a very very itchy rash associated with coeliac disease. Poor chap it looks sore x

My DF had similar. At first they thought it was shingles. But it turned out to be cellulitis. It was diagnosed with a blood test. Cellulitis can be dangerous so I’d definitely ask about it. Don’t assume the doctors would recognise it - my DF suffered for 9 months before he was diagnosed and treated.
