FIT Test Result - Wait Time

Wondering if anyone has any advice on lead time. My mother sent away her FIT test last Wednesday (one organised through the GP after an appointment) and is yet to receive the results. She called the surgery this morning and they still haven’t been received in 7 days.

Have people experienced a long waiting time for results? It’s causing her lots of anxiety.

Thank you.

Thank you. My mother called the GP a few moments ago and still no results, it’s been almost 2 weeks. Not great for the anxiety levels 😫

You can buy an immediate yes / no bowel cancer at home test online for 15 gbp

Thank you.

The test results arrived at the GP today (finally!) and a ‘Non-urgent’ phone call appointment has been booked in for next Tuesday. Just when we thought the results were in, the receptionist couldn’t say anymore 😩

Non urgent = should be okay

Hopefully, thank you! She’s had no symptoms for nearly 8 weeks so hoping it’s all fine.

Finally had the results. The doctor saidthe test was a high positive and will be referred straight away for a colonoscopy . She is with BUPA so is going to go privately…we’re all in a bit of shock and very worried.

It's a worry but can be all sorts of things. We have a family member who always comes back positive and it's IBS confirmed each time.

Thank you so much. She has always had a sensitive stomach and IBS. Trying to stop myself from worrying but it’s hard

Mine was positive and had bowel polyps which they removed during colonoscopy

The prep 4 colonoscopy - the drink - is worse than the actual procedure
