Weird feeling in toes

For a while now i've been getting this strange feeling in my toes but mainly my toe next to my big toe. I can't really explain it other than it feels like there is something wrapped around my toe causing it to feel tingly/numb. Its been getting worse this past few weeks and i don't know what could be causing it. I get it when i've been at home all day with no shoes on so don't think its from shoes being too tight. Has anyone else experienced this? Should i be concerned. I'd feel silly going to the doctors for this.

Get your B12 checked. Deficiency exhibits in numbness in toes and/or fingers.

Yes feels like invisible cotton wrapped around your toe? I had this a few years ago it was my big toe can't remember if it was one or both. I don't have it now but at the time I was at the very start of peri menopause and was getting other weird symptoms like burning tongue too so think it may have been related to hormones. It did resolve after a few months not had it since.

Santiagopink · 27/09/2023 21:25

I've had that twice before, once when I went on the pill and once as a covid symptom.

That's interesting because i had the coil fitted not too long ago so now wonder if it could be hormone related.

Having that now. Did you ever get to the bottom of it? Please update

Sockmate123 · 25/06/2024 15:51

I have this at the moment, did anyone ever get any answers?

Doughdog · 25/06/2024 16:08

I have this, I had always assumed it was related to an epidural I had in labour as it coincided time wise.

ToplessWordle · 25/06/2024 16:25

I've had the cotton-thread-round-toe sensation too! It was a few months ago, and went away after a few days or weeks I'm perimenopausal - maybe it is related to hormonal changes.

I get this but I have Raynaud’s. It feels like a piece of fishing wire is tied around my toes, then the blood flows back in and it’s like they have been set ablaze.

Did you consult a doctor or it just went away? Thanks for replying

I didn't get round to consulting a doctor because it went away of its own accord after a few days/weeks (can't remember exactly how long). It was quite a strange feeling while it lasted though!

Yeah that's how I would describe it, it's not painful, just odd!

I have had this for the last few months! How bizarre- it’s like the seam of a sock is too tight round the toes? I assumed it was swelling and that it was like the skin on my big toe was tightening. I am a runner so something always hurts somewhere so I have just ignored it.

the only thing I found online was a type of arthritis in the joint

Thank you for reply. So it didn't get any worse or anything?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/06/2024 19:03

@Sockmate123 no it’s not got any worse, it’s more noticeable in the mornings so I do think it’s some sort of swelling/water retention. Could also be linked to plantar fac? That tends to make feet/heels/toes feel quite tight and weird.
