Sinusitis

Years ago in the middle 00s I was diagnosed with sinusitis. Over the following few years I noticed a pattern. It would come with a cold or after a cold. Basically I would suffer for months with pain in my face and behind my ears and pressure in these areas too.

I went to my GP about 13 or 14 years ago and she refused to give me antibiotics and she said I would have to have symptoms for X number of days. She said something like 14 or 21 days but I forget what she said. Does anyone here suffer from sinusitis and know how many days do I need to have symptoms for.

After that appointment I checked online about tackling colds quickly and never letting colds set in. The last time I can remember having a cold followed by sinusitis was back in 2015.

I forgot about sinusitis. I was exposed to a cold two weeks ago and now I am suffering still to this day. I forgot to do my routine from before:

  • taking garlic
  • Manuka honey (I can't afford this any more)

Here I am suffering now. I came down with a cold that will not leave me and I think it's just progressed into sinusitis.

Can anyone help me with this. My partner wants me to go to the GP but I think it's still too early for going to the GP. I am 12 days from the onset of cold like symptoms.

This cold is very unusual for me because before COVID I was able to avoid colds by looking after meself and by avoiding colds I also avoided sinusitis. I'm feeling utterly rubbish with pain and pressure in my head, being my face and behind my ears.

It's been years since I was ill like this.

I get regular sinusitis for any reason, colds, hayfever, dust, dry air, allergies etc. It's definitely worse if I pick up a cold. I keep it at bay with saline sinus spray and beclomethasone steroid nasal spray. If I get a flare up all I can do is apply a hot water bottle to my face/head and take strong painkillers. I also take guiafenesin cough medicine as it's a mucous thinner and clears the sinuses out so the pressure doesn't build up.

You might have to learn to manage your condition rather than let it get really bad and seek antibiotics. It's probably not due to a bacterial infection, but more to do with a virus, fungal infection or allergies.

I get it after every cold I get. It's truly miserable. I haven't had a cold for ages and have one now with sinusitis. I have had anti biotics before but I just don't bother now. It really is miserable. I have no energy and I'm so so tired and my whole head feels like it's pulsing!
