Not sure if there is anything they can do but I'm worried about him, poor soul. He has had one cold after another since before Christmas, and by that I mean streaming nose, bunged up, waking up at night unable to breathe properly etc etc.

After picking up a bit over the weekend, on Monday morning he was streaming again. Got worse yesterday, now off his food, and overnight developed a horrible barking cough. One eye is so bloodshot that the white of his eye is totally red, and it is all swollen. He's not eating and has hardly slept because of his cough (neither have I!). He is clingy and miserable, so unlike him.

I'm sure it's just yet another cold but the dds were never ill so I'm just not used to this!

Good Luck!

When my dd had croup the dr recommended ice lollies. The cold helps to reduce the swelling a bit. It really seemed to work - and it was a good way of getting fluid into her as well.

Hope he's better this morning!

Miaou · 06/03/2008 08:45

He's a lot better this morning, thank you!

His cough is now an ordinary one rather than a bark, he has stopped pulling his chest in when he coughs, and though he is still a bit breathless he is a lot happier and currently croaking along to Lunar Jim

Still going to keep away from playgroup for today at least though!

(thanks for the tip seeker)

sounds like he's going in the right direction then I had an interesting night - dd2 sick at 4.30 and 5.40. Dh away, baby on antibiotics because of ear infection and so woke up and had grim leaky nappy. When you add in the explosice green poo dd1 had at the beginning of the week - I think I'll put a big red cross on the front door!

Miaou · 06/03/2008 11:55

lol at red cross - god ill kids are the pits aren't they? (well not the kids themselves, just watching them being miserable etc). My dds were never ill, this is all new to me!!

(ds still ok, just streaming with cold. again. )

Glad ds is feeling better. I'm still scratching my head, Miaou, about the neighbour, as I'd have thought the dad was retired by now. Does their surname being with N?

ska · 06/03/2008 16:41

we had all of this including a whole week on holiday in gran canaria being spent back and forth at the clinic there with dd being nebulised and only 7 years later did we manage to get a diagnosis of asthma. i am so mad at how we were pushed away all the time.
pillows: dd always has 3 pillow sor she coughs all night. we used to put a pilow under her cot mattress when she was tiny. take care of ds and yourself though, we sued to take it in turns to be on 'night duty' so one of us could sleep and work. she is ok now really but off school now with a perfectly ordinary cold which is turning out all cough-y....
we also had a lecture once for my dss who has asthma, the first ever attack he had when dh took him to a&e about how he should have gone earlier. excatly how are you menat to know when the gp always tries to stop you getting appointments and treat us like we waste their time

Miaou · 06/03/2008 21:05

blimey ska, what a rotten time

ds1 still coughing, but not barking.

suedonim, have CATed you!!

I'm glad he seems to be better Miaou, you're right there really is nothing worse than a poorly child, you're on tenderhooks the whole time!
