Shoulder and arm pain

I'm really not sure if I should see doctor/ minor injuries for this or if it is a self care/ put up with it for a few weeks situation. For five days my right shoulder has been really painful behind the blade. Bad enough to wake me up. It radiates down my arm to my elbow. When I press on my arm it really hurts. It feels muscular and I suspect is a sprain injury as we've been shifting furniture around our house as having carpets replaced. I'm taking normal painkillers but today I can't even use my mouse or type without it hurting more to the point of tears/ yelping (it hurts all the time but is worse when trying to do things. I've put it in a sling and am going to have to have a research/ reading day for work. I suspect if I see the doctor they will tell me it will get better in a week or two...but just wondering what others think? It is affecting my sleep and now my work so even if I can get done stronger painkillers that would be something but don't want to waste NHS time.

I wouldn’t use a sling, you need to keep it moving. I’d ask the pharmacy for the strongest thing over the counter, and if it’s not better by Friday I’d be making an appointment on Friday. If it gets notably worse I’d be seeing someone before that.

Thanks. I have been moving it for the last few days but it was getting worse and making me cry so I thought the sling would help but yes you are probably right.

Gp. They will probably assess and decide if anti inflammatories will be enough or refer to physio

Thanks. Will try GP in the morning as my arm is now swollen.
