Hi everyone. Hoping to get some help. Sorry it’s long!
I went for a private health check in Feb this year as I was planning on restarting fertility treatment after having a baby. I had awful heartburn and sickness throughout my entire pregnancy and was on nexium for it and this continued after pregnant. The consultant did full bloods and breast check, urine analysis, hypilori stool sample. Everything came back completely normal with exception of amalyse which was 4 above normal range but the consultant wasn’t concerned ( range was 15-90 mine was 94). I did also have high cholesterol. Consultant recommended high dose nexium for 2 weeks and this did remove most of my heartburn symptoms.
Then in May/June I started getting bad pains in my right shoulder blade and went to the physio who said my shoulder blade was fine and he thought my neck was strained and it was likely from carrying my one year old who wasn’t crawling or walking. I got some physio and this helped. I have always had lower back pain since slipping a disc a few years ago and thought this was transferring to my neck to support holding baby.
Then in August this year I started having some tenderness around the bottom of my ribs mainly on the RHS and sporadic pain in shoulder blade. None of the pain was severe enough to take painkillers and usually felt better after lying down. I also had breast pain and felt my breast was lumpy. Went to my own GP who ran bloods and they all came back normal bar my amalyse which was now nearly double the upper limit but a different range unfortunately so I don’t know how much it’s actually gone up by (range 25-100 mine 190). I had an ultrasound which came back clear of gallstones, what they could see of pancreas, liver, kidneys etc all looks fine. Separately relating to my fertility treatment I had a Scan of my ovaries and uterus which also came back fine. I am scheduled for a mammogram and ultrasound next week re breasts which GP said felt ok but one lumpier and as I’ll be taking hormones wanted me checked out.
I am wondering where I go from here. I have a follow up with the GP next week. When I google high amalyse I see so much stuff to do with cancers and I’m afraid it’s a sign something is wrong but I’m afraid of being dismissed as all my other bloods are totally normal. I’m afraid to miss something.
Has anyone has high amalyse that turned out to be something normal but not gallstones etc as there’s none of those. Anything I should be asking GP for? I should say I have awful health anxiety made worse since having my little one after a long fertility struggle and worry that this high blood result means I’m done for. I was hoping something obvious would show on the ultrasound like gallstones but it’s still a mystery.
