Breast pain

For about a week I’ve had pain in one breast. It’s a stabbing burning pain, almost similar to the let down of milk (I haven’t breastfed in over 2 years).

I asked DH to look and he said my breast looks a little swollen on the side, but otherwise normal. I can’t feel any lumps.

About 3-4 weeks ago the nipple on that breast was randomly cracked (a split where the nipple meets the areole). It went away after a day. Not sure if that could be relevant.

I’m 37 and don’t use any hormonal contraception.

I’n going to call for an appointment tomorrow. Has anyone experienced this? Trying not to freak out

Haven’t experienced this OP but do sympathise as I’m going thru other symptoms and have been referred to breast clinic, am 28 and had a baby 7mo ago so hoping it’s related to hormones / changes after pregnancy etc. definitely go to your GP and if I were you I’d just get referred if anything it’s worth the piece of mind. I have bad health anxiety and it consumes me. Please do update if you can x

Just to update- I‘ve been seen and had an examination plus ultrasound on my breast. Everything looked normal. Doctor said hormonal issues can cause it, but then it would normally be on both sides.

Doctor said ultrasound doesn’t see things smaller than 3mm so I‘ve been referred to have a mammogram.

I’m reassured by the ultrasound not finding anything, but also terrified of having a mammogram.
