ENT referral for ruptured eardrum?

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone else has ever had an ENT referral due to a ruptured eardrum? I thought it was just straightforward in allowing it time to heal but my GP has put a referral through instead. He didn't really explain why which is making me a bit nervous. Has anyone else had this and know why? Or is it just standard procedure?

Thanks!

I’ve heard of ear drum reconstruction, but not sure who has it.

@DustyLee123 I'm not sure what that is? My eardrum popped during a flight and when I went to the GP they said that it was healing but they wanted to refer me to ENT?

Anyone else?

It could be to ensure that it is healing correctly and if not then you are under the ENT already. Could also be to see if there are preventative ways in the future if you need to fly.
