Iron supplements and constipation

I was diagnosed with anemia and given a dose of 200mg ferrous fumarate three times a day. I am suffering badly with both constipation and diahrea from this. I was taking lactulose which isn’t really helping much.

I did a search on here and found some people saying spatone or iron bisglycinate are better as don’t cause side effects.

it was only one or two mentions though and I wasn’t sure if they were less effective maybe . Does anyone here have experience with taking these? Also does anyone know if they can be obtained from gp?

or will I just need to order myself?

I had very low iron (not anaemia though) and asked about Spatone, but it's not nearly strong enough when your iron levels are that low.

Like you, I found ferrous fumarate really messed with my stomach at first but it did get (a bit) better with time.

thanks. I have been taking it for a month now and I just feels it’s getting worse . It hadn’t occurred to me there may be other options until I started searching on here.
