Lumpy boobs?

I have had health anxiety and also have quite lumpy boobs, always have. I try my best to check every month only but I can become quite obsessed with doing so and feeling lumps sends me spiralling. I got a breast exam from GP about 2 months ago and she wasn’t the least concerned. My boob that’s naturally bigger is also more lumpier than the other. Any tips on how to notice something sinister. I know to look for changes but my HA just goes spiralling at times and I convince myself I’ve breast cancer.

The most important thing is to see someone re. your health anxiety.

Regarding breast exams, this is really comprehensive, easily one of the best I have seen.

100%. My GP is off right now & I have an appt to see her in 2 weeks tomorrow so will have a good discussion re this & my HA. It’s tough, also thanks so much it’s very good! Probably best I’ve seen also!

A malignant breast tumour takes anywhere from 2-5 years to grow to a size large enough for you to feel it during a self-breast exam, so there's no need to panic about the one that has suddenly appeared. If it's anything, it's more than likely a cyst - 9 out of 10 breasts lumps are, or else they're benign fibroadenomas. Like I said, try not to panic and work on your health anxiety. That kind of anxiety is really no way to live, and really quite obstructive and stressful, the latter of which no-one needs, more so if you're prone to anxiety!

Good luck

@pushnpull really? I didn’t know this. Thanks for the info though. I sort of just go to panic mode 🙈
I definitely will as I’ve a young baby son and really want the best version of myself to raise him - not this panic state ridden one. Have you lumpy boobs yourself or? Asked a friend who said not whatsoever 😂 but I definitely know mine are normally a bit lumpy always have been!

No, not lumpy boobs. But I have had issues with benign fibroadenomas (for decades) and am dealing with breast cancer. A friend has always had lumpy boobs. She also has had breast cancer and told me it felt completely different to her usual lumpiness, and she just knew.

Given your age and that you've had a baby, it's probably just a blocked duct or infection, one that can be sorted out with antibiotics. This is why you need to sort out your health anxiety and not worry about something that probably isn't nothing.

The bottom line is that everyone is different. Learn what your normal feels and looks like, and that way, you will know what feels off.

😀

@pushnpull i saw a doctor (not my actual gp) and he was very reluctant but agreed to refer me which in Ireland takes a few weeks not just 2 unless it’s urgent and he was barely willing to do that! Horrible experience! Because he couldn’t “ feel much “ and not exactly what I felt and also I have been pressing my skin in one spot so much there’s actually a slight dimple but now I dunno if it’s been there a while or if I caused it? So hard to know as surely I’d of seen it!
