Coil and recurrent thrush

Has anyone had recurrent thrush after having a copper coil in? I've tried several things to treat it, including antibiotic pessaries, but it's back again. I know it's not the end of the world, but feel quite miserable about it.

The GP didn't seem to think it was linked to the coil, but it started a couple of months after I had it fitted and has been recurring ever since.

Has anyone else had similar, and if so, did having the coil removed solve the problem? I can't use the pill etc for other reasons, so don't want to rush into having the coil removed but don't really know what else to do.

Hi

It sounds just like what i have been going through!

I had my copper coil fitted 9 months ago and every month without fail i have had thrush one week before my period.

I am having the coil taken out tomorrow and will discuss the problems with the doctor.

I have also had bleedig between most periods with crampy pains that have made my sex life in my early marriage (6 months) a nightmare.

I didn't want to use anything 'hormonal' like the pill but this has just been a complete pain!

Will let you know what they say about the thrush tomorrow.

I'm having the same problem and it is driving me nuts. Only had the coil fitted about 8 weeks ago but already had three bouts of what feels like thrush. Hell. I'm seeing the FPC tomorrow to talk about getting my coil taken out.

Fasciinated to read these messages. Have had thrush 3 months in a row after copper coil was fitted 4 months ago. The FPC said the two aren't related but having only had a mild case once in my life before so seems wierd. Did anyone notice change for better after having coil removed?
