Hi everyone, so this week I found out I have a chlamydia. So for backing story I have been with my partner sense I was 17 so over 7 years now. Over covid we split up for about 6 months and had other sexual partners in this time frame. We got back together we both never got tested and I fell pregnant with my son. Fast forward to now we had another baby 6 months ago ( and no I wasn’t routinely tested while pregnant) so last week I was at the doctors for other reasons with absolutely no chlamydia symptoms although i have had re occurring thrush for a long time. The doctor did swabs and even said herself she didn’t think anything would come back..IT DID. Chlamydia!! I feel ashamed. God knows how long I have had this. I haven’t been unfaithful and my partner says he hasn’t either. Now I’m worried my children could have it. Anyone been in a similar situation ? Thanks just don’t know where to look or what to do

Your partner needs to be tested and tested too

There was a recent thread on here where a lady was told she had chlamydia in a long term relationship. Everyone advised her to leave her partner. The GP then told her they’d sent her the wrong results and she didn’t have it after all.
I would get retested just to be sure.

It kind of is a biggy. I’m worried about my children and could I have passed it on to them during labour!!

Yes my partner has booked in to get tested but surely if I have it then he has it aswell?

As baby is 6 months now you can be confident haven’t passed it on to your children in labour, if that had happened it would have presented in the first days or weeks as conjunctivitis or a pneumonia.
Infection during pregnancy can risk early rupture of membranes, pre term labour which is why they really should test during pregnancy.

He will have picked it up when you were separated.
