Unexplained bleeding with clots

This afternoon I had a sharp pain in my uterus for a few seconds and then it went away. I have just gone to the toilet and wiped and there was a fair amount of dark blood (like you get at the end of a period) with a clot. I am on the mini pill so I don't get periods. I have also recently been diagnosed with a breast cyst despite my doctor telling me that I don't have 'cystic breasts'. I spoke to my mum who said it could be a miscarriage. Does that sound likely or could it be something else hormone related?

Gp appointment tomorrow morning would be my advice.

Unfortunately it will be a Sunday and I will be lucky to get a GP appointment for weeks. I had to go private for the breast cyst. Does it seem like a miscarriage? I have never knowingly been pregnant before but I did have a short period a couple of weeks ago of being very nauseous but put it down to a bug

It could be any number of things. Miscarriage would usually involve a lot of blood over a longer period of time and also cramping rather than sharp pain.
Fibroids, PCOS, endometriosis, various gynae cancers, breakthrough bleeding, perimenopause, a bit of constipation during a period can cause sharp pain like that... there are boatloads of causes for this, you really do need medical attention to check it (or wait and see if it goes away after a few days, it could just be a hormonal blip).

Also FYI if you've taken antibiotics recently, it can cause you to have a period on the mini pill.

@BiscuitsandPuffin thank you for your helpful post. I had been feel very nauseous and lightheaded for the last couple of weeks so I had considered taking a pregnancy test but it seemed unlikely and then the nausea improved: I'm still bleeding a little and have a bit of a dull ache now
