X Post: Abnormal bleeding? Very scary times

Can anyone help me figure this out? I’ve posted this before but didn’t get any replies.

I have been experiencing abnormal bleeding for a few months now. The bleeding is always at the same time between periods, and accompanied by dull, uncomfortable pain in my abdomen, on the right side or middle.

The hospital have tested me for pregnancy and infections, but they were negative, and I had an exam yesterday. Unfortunately the exam had to be cut short and ultimately wasn’t completed, as I experienced severe pain (tearing, burning sensation) and began bleeding quite heavily once the speculum was inserted. The doctor asked if it was normal for me to bleed once my cervix had been touched, which I said it wasn’t, and she stepped out to speak to her seniors.

I’ve been booked in for a scan next week, and the hospital are looking into a laparoscopic procedure. The doctor mentioned all sorts like polyps, fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS, and asked for my family history of cancer (I have had relatives with ovarian cancer, breast cancer and abnormal cervical cells).

I’m 26, and up in a heap over this. I’m in pain and still somewhat spotting today from the exam.

Hello, I've had bleeding in between periods for 4 years now. It's usually around the same time each month for me too, but it varies. Sometimes it's like an extra period a few days after the first one.

I've had every test there is. Smear, STD tests, vaginal swabs, hormone blood tests, ultrasound (which found a huge ovarian cyst), CA125 blood tests (when they thought the cyst could be cancerous - it wasn't), a pelvic MRI, a hysteroscopy, and then an open surgery to remove the cyst so all my reproductive organs were visually examined by the surgeon.

There was nothing wrong except the cyst, but even having it removed hasn't stopped the bleeding. I've basically been told it's a hormonal issue and there's nothing they can do. I've had so much worry over this over the past few years, but now I've just come to accept it as part of my cycle.

So it may well be there's nothing wrong with you at all! If it makes you feel any better, I always bleed during a smear too.

Thank you @PaperSnowAGhost6 !! Mine, and the hospital’s, first instinct was that it was a cyst(s). PCOS seems likely based on other symptoms too. Endometriosis is also a high likelihood.

I’m ovulating today, and the pain is back, but so far no bleeding. The pain from the exam is gone, but I’m still so surprised I bled because it wasn’t even a smear. The speculum went in and had to be removed immediately due to the pain, so the exam didn’t even really begin. It was weird.

Other symptoms I get around ovulation is increased BM frequency, gas, bloating and fatigue
