Hello! I woke up a week ago now with a itchy bump on my foot and it’s getting worse.
does anyone know what it could be and does it look infected?

Hmm, I'd Google tic/Lyme disease for just in case purposes.
Otherwise, I'd draw a pen line round it to check if it's getting bigger and put a blob of antiseptic cream on it.

I'd see a doctor about possible Lymes infection - sooner better than later

Please go to your GP/minor injuries asap. If its a tick bite you need antibiotics straight away

ethelredonagoodday · 31/08/2023 17:44

I had one like that and GP thought it was a possibly a horsefly bite. In the end I needed ABs as it started to spread all up my leg and my ankle swelled right up!

See the pharmacist for advice

See the pharmacist for advice

OP isn't looking for advice about drugs. Why suggest seeing a pharmacist rather than a doctor? Particularly considering the urgency, if this might be a tick bite.

Scottishskifun · 31/08/2023 21:34

As others say it looks like a bulls eye rash most commonly caused by a tick bite and lymes disease.
Lymes disease is on a big increase and is under diagnosed/missed so it's worth seeing your GP as a urgent case to get the antibiotics started.

Hello everyone,
thank you for your replies! I’m in A&E now as I’ve been having a really tight chest and I saw the GP earlier today who advised to come for an x ray but I forgot to mention about the bite! I’m just waiting for the doctor to discuss my symptoms. I’ve actually been feeling poorly since I got the bite so I’ll see what they say. I’ve just had bloods and and an x ray.

@Mumtobe888
How did you get on?

Mumtobe888 · 01/09/2023 22:13

@LilacLemur they said it is a tic bite and I’ve now got antibiotics to take for a week and I’ve got a blood test booked for five weeks to see about lymes disease but they said I should be ok after the tablets. I’ve been feeling so rubbish all week, so hopefully I’ll start to feel better soon! It looked worse this morning than last night (excuse my horrible tan lines) I’m never wearing sandals again after this haha

Glad your on antibiotics OP lymes disease is easy to treat if caught early so I'm glad you have! It doesn't always have the bullseye hence it gets missed.
You should start to feel better in a few days.

LilacLemur · 01/09/2023 22:38

Oh I'm so glad you're on medication for it. Fingers crossed it will go very soon

ethelredonagoodday · 01/09/2023 22:40

Glad you got sorted OP. Fingers crossed the ABs do their work!

Mumtobe888 · 01/09/2023 22:42

Thank you everyone for your replies! I’ll keep you posted how I get on :)

So glad you got it checked out.

AriannasGuitarCase · 02/09/2023 12:05

Just be aware OP that it's usually 3 weeks of antibiotics for Lyme, and considering you've been feeling unwell as well as having the rash, I don't think only one week of them is a risk worth taking

TryingToBeFirstDatesFredButNot · 02/09/2023 12:30

Glad you got meds. It looks almost identical to one my DD had a few weeks ago - she's been on a 3 week course of doxycycline.

Mumtobe888 · 29/10/2023 13:23

Hello! Just wanted to update, after my week of antibiotics it cleared up and I had my blood test and that came back all clear x
