1st Gynaecology appoint for large simple ovarian cyst

Hi all.

Following an ultrasound scan (abdominal and transvaginal) recently, I found out that I have a simple ovarian cyst, measuring 15cm by 10cm on my left ovary. I also had my CA125 blood test result back yesterday which came back normal.

I've been referred to see a Gynaecologist because the cyst is quite large, and I was just wondering if anyone knows what I should expect at my first gynae appointment.

I get quite worried about hospital appointments, and I feel it would help me if I knew what kind of things to expect.

I'm grateful for any advice that anyone reading this could give.

First of all expect a long wait, as in months.
My experience 4 years ago at gyna was they did internal exam and referred me for MRI. I had already had ultrasound before referral.

I got seen quickly after my scan and first appt was an internal exam ( which always confused me as the consultant had the scan results) and we talked about pain levels etc and how I would be checked every 3 months for a year and they'd leave it as it was a simple cyst.

After my first check up scan I was referred for an MRI and they decided it needed removing urgently as it was actually a dermoid cyst so had my pre op assessment the following week. 20 weeks on I'm still waiting due to all the strikes which have put everything back.

They just said they would rescan me and it went on it's own
Waiting for another appointment for endometrial cysts now and from referral to date it's 8 weeks
However if I had accepted my local hospital it would be 6 months... so I'm going to Spire instead
