Periods and spotting

this is a bit of a long one so I do apologise!

I had a medical abortion at 6 weeks in April, it was an extremely hard choice and one in which I very much regret.

I had my first period post abortion about 8 weeks after. I then experienced some spotting 2 weeks after this first period for a while, I went to the doctors and had some tests which concluded thrush, this was then treated and the bleeding stopped. My cycle from that first period post abortion was 42 days when I then had a proper period again.

Fast forward to now. I’ve again experienced spotting for ten days around 29 days into my cycle which is still ongoing and now 41 days into my cycle 😩 It’s been brown spotting mostly but today I thought my period was fully beginning but now I’m not sure. I’ve got the doctors again today but I’m just wondering if this could be down to the abortion or something else? I’ve got bad health anxiety so you can imagine what google is doing to me!!

I understand why you're worried. Our cycle is affected by lots of things, it could be the termination, it might just be out of sync and spotting a bit while it regulates itself. Try not to google with health anxiety. Speak to your doctor, they may just want to check your uterus but it doesn't necessarily mean anything serious is going on so try not to worry too much.

Thank you for your reply. My doctors arrange a scan and blood tests to check my thyroid. She's thinking similar to me as my cycles have almost always been 28-30 day and seems strange it's all changed since my abortion. Just want everything back to normal, I know stress can have a huge effect on it but unfortunately my mind just runs away with me. I'm only 26 but health anxiety can be awful at times. X

Hey! So actually turned out I had thrush again, which was treated. Then finally got my period cycle day 62, bloods were all fine and I have a scan Wednesday. Currently on day 8 of a period though after skipping one. No idea what's going on to be honest! X

I'm actually in a similar position had to have the treatment twice as it failed the first time turns out I still had some of the pregnancy tissue left over, currently awaiting blood tests and a swab test it's non stop bleeding,now like a brown colour with little speckles

Oh my goodness really? How long ago was your abortion? How did they detect this? You'll have to let me know how you get on! Nervous for my scan to be honest!

Took more pills on the 21st of july.its just been non stop bleeding since,was up hospital yesterday because I got in a panic thinking maybe I've got C that word scares me,Dr reassured me nothing like that is going on and when they scanned me she said nothing sinister was picked up on the scan xx

Oh I see, you had treatment twice for the abortion? Mine was way back in April time but still had very strange spotting but thrush was picked up twice since. Now I'm having a long period it seems after missing one. That C word is my biggest worry too. I just have to wait and see what happens at the scan! X

Bless ya yes I'm waiting on scan my bloods and swab come back normal but I've got a UTI not a clue where I am in my cycle, honestly so draining all this X
