Handhold? Booked for a scan

NC as I don’t want this linked to my normal account.

I’ve just been informed that my family does have a history of ovarian cancer, after previously believing there hadn’t been. These cases were 2nd and 3rd degree relatives, so quite close.

Late last year, my by-the-book periods suddenly changed. They’d always been painful, but suddenly the pain was unbearable. Around ovulation, I began bleeding, and every month since, I’ve bled between periods and experienced a painful, pulling sensation in my right side. This pain always comes before the blood, and always at ovulation.

In April, I ended up in hospital with pain. The culture swab came back clear for infections, and I was booked for a scan, which is scheduled for this week. The doctor at the hospital went through my medical history and asked if there was any history of ovarian cancer, which I had said no to. Now I know better, and it’s causing my anxiety to spiral quite a bit. Originally, the hospital are testing me for cysts, PCOS, Endo, etc but now I’m convinced it’s definitely cancer. I’m only in my late 20s, but cancer doesn’t care about how old you are, so there’s little comfort there.

Other symptoms I’ve had are: Tenderness in my side (feels bloated), body aches, fatigue, low mood and an increase in bowel movements and urination. I know there’s 101 things this could be, but I’m going a bit crazy right now with worry so needed a handhold

Thank you

Hello! I know how horrible it is waiting on any sort of scan or appt or for sometning to go away! I’ve not had similar symptoms so I can’t help you there but I just wanted to stop & say yes there is so many things this could be and I know our minds always run with the worst case scenario- having health anxiety I experience this firsthand quite a lot. But if you need to chat anytime or want to keep anyone updated through it with you as a support I’m here! Sending hugs and crossing fingers 🙏🙏🙏

Not a doctor but you could just be experiencing ovulation spotting? Ovulation is a traumatic event on your body. I'd say the fact that it is only around ovulation maybe be a better sign that it is linked to your ovulation.
Periods can also change they just need to investigate why.
Like I said not a doctor. Hope your scan goes well!

Hello! I just saw your post and thought i would reply to see how you were getting on even though i know its only been a few days. I came on here to find this sort of thing because i am also convinced i have OC, some similar symptoms to you.

I am still having normal periods (i am on the pill) and no abnormal bleeding but i am constantly bloated, even when watching what i eat and also first thing in a morning, before food and after the toilet.

I feel a pulling sensation too on the right hand side of my stomach almost feels like a bubble too?... i cant explain it very well just feels like its not right or something needs popping. Burping and going to the toilet doesn't relieve it either which is frustrating. and i feel like when i lay on my side it feels more noticeable, there isnt any hard lump that i can feel but i feel like my stomach kind of flops to one side when laid on my side which why im panicking theres something there and its weighing my stomach to the side!?!?!

Fatigue and low mood is similar to me too, although i have been under a couple of years worth of stress which i'm not used too, always had a pretty easy going life then split with husband 2 year ago and been through quite a lot of stress since, so i recently put it down to that but i dont know, its going on for quite a while now and just doesnt feel right!

I hope you get good results! I have called the GP today and have a telephone appt next Tuesday so will have to wait til then for me to get any further!
