Threadworms bleghhh!

So my 4 y/o has got threadworms for the 3rd time in 3 months. Have given her Ovex 4 days ago she’s just had a poo and there’s loads of the little feckers wriggling around in her poo 🤢 so assuming the tablet hasn’t worked? Have given her Ovex the last 2 infestations and they seemed to go after a couple of days.

have given her pumpkin seeds/garlic/raw carrot to eat, put Vaseline around her bum and of course deep cleaned, washed and damp dusted everything!

is there anything else I can do? She’s so distressed at night as her bum is so itchy and uncomfortable and don’t want her taking them to school when she starts next week. Wish there was different medication out there for us to try 😞

Are you doing two doses?
Dose one and then two weeks later a second dose to kill off any newly hatched ones,

Thats what our box on own brand tablets says to do.

Are you treating everyone in the household twice? If she is in nursery/childcare setting you need to let them know otherwise she will just keep getting reinfected from the other children.

Yeah we are treating everyone in the house and will give a second dose next week. Luckily she’s on her summer holidays so not had much contact with other children but if she’s still got them next week I’ll of course let school know.

When my little one had them she had a bowel movement a couple of days after the ovex with hundreds of the wriggly things on it. I was horrified and thought it hadn't worked. I then read that it was a good sign as the ovex had weakened them so they could no longer stay attached to the bowel wall. It must have been true as they disappeared a few days after that.
