DVT in both legs?

I had surgery five weeks ago. I was diagnosed with clots in my right leg and right lung last Friday. I’m on blood thinners.

This morning I woke up with pain in my left leg similar to the pain I would have with a clot. Has anyone ever experienced a clot in both legs at the same time?

My DH did have DVT in both legs and a pulmonary embolism after Covid, it could be another DVT in your left leg.

Was your husband hospitalised or did he just continue taking the blood thinners?

He was hospitalised with Covid, but had come out and didn't get re-admitted for the DVT/PE. He just continued on the blood thinners, enoxaparin injections first then rivaroxaban eventually. He was taking enoxaparin for the DVT already when they diagnosed the pulmonary embolism, but they gave him a longer course when they found the DVT.

I would speak to your GP tomorrow as they may still want to scan your left leg and check even though you are on blood thinners.

I’ll be calling my GP in the morning. Thanks for your helpful post. I hope your husband recovered well.

He has thank you. He was only on blood thinners for four months in the end.

Any progress with your GP, OP?

I met the GP this afternoon and she is arranging an ultrasound at the local hospital. I’m continuing with the blood thinners. Hopefully I’ll get the ultrasound quickly.

Definitely needs checking out, ca new clot could form in the other leg, or the existing clot can propagate to where the veins from each leg join, causing both to be occluded - either way you may need some adjustments to your treatment.
