Sore boobs

For the last 3 months, I have experienced really sore boobs after sleep. They feel bruised on the side but look normal.

The pain has gradually got to the point now, where I start wincing when moving my arms across my body such as bending down to something up.

Initially I put it down to coming off contraception (Depo provera) and assumed it would stop in time, but it’s getting worse! Any advice?

If relevant, I am a side sleeper. My mattress is hard, but I’ve had it for 3 years without this problem so it’s not a new addition. I am slim & A/B cup.

Also I was on the contraceptive injection for around 6 years. I am not pregnant.

Just an update for advice, GP arranged blood tests and face to face appointment and mentioned cancer. He said it’s unlikely as it’s both breasts but I’m worried now

Whoah just wanted to say it’s extremely ,to the point of unheard of, unlikely to be cancer in both breasts, in the same place at the same time! He is probably just covering himself but please try not to worry. Have you tried evening primrose oil ? That can be helpful for breast tenderness. I’ve had sore boobs loads but I would t have gone to gp as both sides would’ve reassured me. I would try wearing different bras, a soft bralette and a pillow under you for support maybe? Hope someone comes along with more help on here.

@43ontherocksporfavor thank you so much for your kind post. Yes I think he was covering all bases as he said the same about both breasts meaning cancer is unlikely. It’s still a bit of a shock to hear, but I’ll take his and your advice and hopefully nothing comes of this!

Hoping I can also reassure. I had this and they were breast cysts - felt very bruised on the sides. They drained them and are so much better. Try not to go the worst case scenario as it rarely is.

Another 1 who's had this & also needed cysts drained & felt so much better. Mine haven't recurred but was told it can happen.
Apparently a higher chance of breast cysts occurring if you've breast fed for long period, which I had done. (Consultant said this)

@Audacity7 @Bibbitybobbitty thank you for sharing. Could you feel the cysts when you massaged your breasts?

Yes just hard and lumpy and hurt to prod . I have them again now and need to get them drained again .

Thank you for sharing. I can’t feel any bumps. Will take blood tests tomorrow and will hopefully find out a cause!
