Felt rundown for a few days. )assumed I was tired /stressed with the holidays/work juggle)

Started yesterday morning with awful diarrhoea. Lasted a few hours. Meds helped. Since then I've been feverish, lethargic, nauseous, headache, face pain.

I never get stomach issues. Are these symptoms typical of a stomach bug?

I’ll ask. Have you tested?

Yep. This is how people are presenting with covid just now. Why are people still not aware?

Autieangel · 28/08/2023 04:34

Genuinely don't know of anyone having this. So covid then? I'll test tomorrow. Anyone know how long it lasts? Obviously we are going on holiday tomorrow! (Uk)

I've had this exact thing. Covid negative.

That's typical! Awful timing.

Yes, D&V with sore throat, headache, and cold/flu symptoms is very common just now. People often aren't usually testing positive until day 6/7. (swabbing throat, cheeks, and nose)

Seeing this a lot in the community and in discussions on here. Hope you feel better soon.

How long were you ill for?

Why would (the majority of) people be aware? Covid isn't given much attention in the media these days... I'd not heard of the new symptoms until I read this thread.

P.s. just re-read and my wording potentially sounds snarky but it's not meant to... it's a genuine question as I don't think it's likely for people to be up to date - without going out of their way to be - if the powers that be continue to keep the low level of focus on covid ongoing.

@Autieangel I'm around day 5 now. I just feel so ill. First day I lived in the toilet. Been awake most of the night. I'll probably sleep all day. It clearly feels like a bug and I'm coughing and my chest is tight, but Covid test was emphatically negative. I really thought it was going to be positive.

@Issummernearlyover as a previous poster said above, many aren't getting a positive test till late into the infection, 5+ days in. Also you need to swab your throat, cheeks and nostril (5 seconds each, including both cheeks). You might want to test again now.

Still testing negative and desperate to feel well again.

I've had it, started just over a fortnight ago and was initially the gastric symptoms and later the crippling headaches/facial pain and burning back muscles/lungs. All left me feeling very depressed, and the fatigue now is a killer. I'm barely functioning at the moment. Did a covid test last week because of stuff I'd read on here but it was negative.
