Clicking knees

Hi all
Looking for advice. Dh mid 30s, very active, goes to the gym 3-4 times a week.

He has very clicky knees. They click all the time.

It worry's me as his dad (FIL) has arthritis in both knees, which led to being in a wheelchair fairly young and will most likely need knees replaced.

So, is there anything we can do about husbands clicky knees? Can arthritis be prevented?

Thanks

I went to the doctor about clicky knees and they laughed at me 🤷‍♀️

Get him to go to GP if you’re concerned, or osteopath maybe

I’ve had issues with my knees for years. Seen many doctors and surgeons. Clicking is a sign of some deterioration - potentially going too heavy on the weights? The main question is does it cause discomfort - if not don’t worry too much. Get him to see physio for assessment but usually more serious issues are a lot more painful. I couldn’t walk down stairs at one point. My FIL swears by cod liver so maybe give that a go.

If he’s been working out it’s most likely tight muscles clicking as they slide over the bones. It’s not a problem.

My knees click and also make a noise like plastic bags being crushed.

I am hyper-mobile and I have dislocated a kneecap twice (sounds horrible but was painless).

My noisy knees have never really given me any bother.
