bleeding gums - toddler

My 24 month old dd has had bleeding from her gums for the past two months. Her back teeth have recently come out. The dentist could not find any tooth decay and is mystified. Does anyone know anything about this condition?

I would suggest a full blood count, the GP would be next in line if there is no dental reason for this bleeding. Please don't worry, but it would be reassuring for you to get a blood sample, hope it won't be too awful for her.

I really do hope I haven't alarmed you copper. It does depend on the type of bleeding too, sometimes you get odd little clots with teething. But when you say 2 months it's best to get it checked out.

My dd did have a full blood count last month - thankfully it was normal. She is being seen by the oral surgery dept at our local hospital. The next review is in two weeks time - hopefully they will be able to shed more light on this

Just remembered this. Mouthbreathers can get bleeding gums which can be a bit puffy too, when no other reason. If she has been bunged up a bit, it is something to consider.
