Advice needed please as I don’t know what to do next. Since March I have had lower back pain which has got progressively worse and is now almost unbearable. It is only present on the lower to middle part on the right of my back. This coincided with an ovarian cyst (right ovary). I thought they were likely related. Scan 7 weeks ago confirmed the cyst had gone. I still have severe lower back pain and pelvic pain. I have had a swollen right lower leg for about 7 weeks. My whole right hand side feels odd. I’m have slightly blurred vision in my right eye. I have been to the optician and no prescription is needed. I have a constant head ache that is only on the right hand side. I get occasional tingling in my right arm and right leg.

Have been to GP several times, the only symptom he has focused on is the lower back pain. He wants to go down the muscular skeletal route. I really do not think this is muscular. I have been doing lower back exercises given by a physio for about 4 weeks and if anything the pain is getting worse. The GP is ignoring the leg swelling and pays no attention to it or any of my other symptoms. I don’t want to sound dramatic but as it is only affecting one side of my body I am concerned about something neurological or something nerve based.

Who would I need a referral to to have this investigated further? It really isn’t normal for me to feel like this. I’ve also had nausea and my appetite is severely reduced. Any advice on what I should be asking for would be greatly appreciated.

I'd start by seeing a different GP. The one you've seen sounds useless. If you have a swollen leg then it needs to be investigated! Good luck Flowers

He should be referring you for tests. Obviously many symptoms can be different things but he needs to number them down to get to the bottom of it for you. Are you up to date with your smears?

I only ask because you said lower back pain and wondered if they'd offered you this etc.
