Smelly wee, is it a health problem

Over the last couple of weeks my wee has become much more smelly.

I have no other symptoms, no discomfort or extra frequency.
I'm trying to remember to drink more water, generally drink tea in the daytime, a glass or 2 of wine in the evening, water when it crosses my mind.

Should I do anything else, does the change mean anything?

i think it's just generally that you need to drink lots of water.

Could be a sign that you're not drinking enough... and I don't mean alcohol. Try and drink more fluid during the day to see if it improves, if not go see your doc with a sample. HTH

Also make sure you go to the loo often because if you have a tendency to hold it in, bacteria build up can cause the smell

Is it darker too? darker and smellier = not enough liquid

Diet changed at all? Salty party food/eating out in Chinese/Thai restaurants?
That can affect the smell of your urine the day after (the classic one is asparagus which is really noticeable). Especially if you are maybe not drinking quite enough.
I am now better from a UTI which got so bad so quickly it made my wee reek. Believe me, you'd know if there was an underlying health problem, this was upsettingly different (sorry if this is too much info at coffee time).
Hope you are fine, Mistletoe. If in any doubt, take a specimen to the GPs - they can do a basic analysis and then send it off for a culture if there appears to be a problem.

Right, just off for another glass of water then. I'll try this tactic for a few days, and if it stays smelly will let the doc have some (nice gift for christmas )

Feel fine tho' thanx everyone.

When you have a urine infection it can make your wee smell really bad. Its probably that you need more water, but definately keep an eye on it.
