Bad back

I pulled my back 2 weeks ago and have followed all the advice I have been given (painkillers, ice, heat, exercise, rest) but I am still struggling. I cannot lie down at all, the pain is horrific and so have been forced to sleep upright in a chair. I have my legs lifted but can only tolerate them up so high and as a result of this, my ankles are swelling up quite a lot. I cannot get in to see a GP for stronger painkillers, the pharmacist has given me diclofenic gel but that isn't really helping and 111 (ridiculous that I am calling them but it was what the GP advised) can't help me. Where do I go from here? Have tried the floor, every bed in the house, the sofa but I am still in too much pain to sleep. I can manage an hour at a time in the chair but it's not enough and I'm really struggling. Any advice?
