Has anyone ever had them on the NHs? Or used Invisalign?

I’ve done Invisalign, did 2 years of treatment which finished in June. Best decision I made, it was costly but worth it for me.

Allhailkingcharlie · 26/08/2023 08:12

@Drummend01 do you mind me asking how much you paid?

@Allhailkingcharlie £3300, that included whitening at the beginning and end and my retainers. This is my before and after

@Drummend01 oh wow. Thank you for that. They look great!

I'm waiting to get mine fitted, I want train tracks tho 😁

Allhailkingcharlie · 26/08/2023 20:30

@Summerhillsquare do you mind me asking how much you're paying for those? I wouldn't mind having metal braces.

I had train tracks on the NHS when I was in my early 20s. I also needed jaw surgery to get the best result, which is why it was on the NHS. Absolutely no regrets.

Allhailkingcharlie · 26/08/2023 20:59

@MirrorMirror1247 how long did you have them
On for?

OP posts:
MirrorMirror1247 · 26/08/2023 21:07

@Allhailkingcharlie About 16 months, so not all that long, really.

Allhailkingcharlie · 26/08/2023 21:35

@MirrorMirror1247 that's not bad at all!! I just don't know how much they'd charge for them.

Not sure if it's helpful but just to give you an idea of cost if you have no luck with the NHS route. I got train tracks at a private dentist a couple of years ago. My teeth needed proper braces rather than Invisalign or I'd have done that.
It's not cheap but was absolutely the best thing I've ever done for myself. It cost around £5400 which is an insane amount of money I know, but they have a 0% interest payment plan so I pay £149 a month and will finish paying off next August. It's been painful financially, but really has been so worth it.
I had the braces on for about 10 months I think. Was super fast

CebelloRojo · 26/08/2023 22:08

I’m just hearing the end of Invisalign treatment. I’ve two weeks left and am thrilled by the results.

CebelloRojo · 26/08/2023 22:08

Forgot to say they were £3000

poppym12 · 26/08/2023 22:26

I had cfast braces for 7 months. Wish I'd done it years earlier. I smile properly now as I'm not embarrassed by my wonky teeth. It cost around £2000/£2500 (sorry, it was a few years ago).

catsnhats11 · 26/08/2023 22:29

Can I jump in and ask to those who've had Invisalign, did you need teeth removal?

HenryCavillsPerfectTeeth · 26/08/2023 22:36

I had Invisalign too. Best £3k I ever spent.

utterflapdoodle · 26/08/2023 22:46

I had Invisalign in my 40s. It took about two years in total and cost about 6000 euros mostly paid by private health insurance.

No teeth needed to be removed but my main problem was gaps between the teeth and protuberance. Ten years later I'm still very happy with the result. I don't wear a retainer and the teeth still have not moved.

Drummend01 · 26/08/2023 23:15

@catsnhats11 i didn’t need teeth out in the end. Instead I had interdermal abrasion where they filed between my teeth a bit to allow everything to slot into place

TheGoodBanana · 26/08/2023 23:31

I had nhs braces as an adult. I was about 28/29 when I got them on it was a long process, I had about 18 months of braces and then double jaw surgery and then 6 more months of braces.

I can't recommend it enough. Best thing I ever did for me.

Angrymum22 · 26/08/2023 23:43

We do both Invisilign and normal ortho. We charge about the same for both. Most orthodontists prefer staged payments.
Personally I prefer the brackets and wires. They give better result overall and often take less time because patients can’t take them out.
The cost ranges from 3-5k depending on the type of brackets used.
Don’t use online orthodontists. They are under investigation currently. A good independent local orthodontist is preferable ( most NHS orthodontists do adult private as well) The qualified orthodontist will plan and carry out your treatment. Online or chain Invisilign is carried out by unqualified individuals who are trained to take impressions. The models may be assessed by an orthodontist but you are unlikely to see them.

HangingOver · 26/08/2023 23:46

I've got the metal ones, they're £4200. Mine need quite a lot of yanking and they said it'd take quite a bit longer with Invisalign. I've only had them since April and they're nearly straight!

chunkychunks · 27/08/2023 08:24

I had fixed braces on nhs, aged 22-27. I think covid slowed it down significantly with appointments being cancelled etc, it was a really long time!

However it was the best thing I ever did. My private dentist referred me. I was lucky to get them on nhs but my orthodontist was a student, I was a Guinea pig really :)

My husband has the Invisalign retainers you wear at night, think it was a few thousand. He has lovely teeth

Allhailkingcharlie · 27/08/2023 10:38

It's really
Making me want them hearing about these lovely smiles! But it's just the cost. Argh.

OP posts:
MirrorMirror1247 · 27/08/2023 10:43

I get that the cost might put you off, but if mine hadn't been on the NHS I'd have done everything possible to save enough money. Consider it an investment! I don't think anyone regrets getting braces.

Reallynotoverreacting · 27/08/2023 10:44

I did Invisalign too, about 8 years ago. It cost £3000 and I paid it off over 3 years, that included 2 sets if retainers and professional whitening.

I didn't need teeth removed but you may need your teeth filed at some point.
Will post a before and after if I can find it!
