Allergy testing

A few days ago I had (I think) an allergic reaction to almonds. I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow and the receptionist mentioned I'd probably have to have a blood test. Will they only test for almonds or will they check for other possible allergens too? I started getting hayfever about three years ago and would love to know if it's caused by tree pollen or something else.

Hayfever isn't usually tested for as there's no real benefit, and symptom history is the most important element of diagnosing/identifying allergens.

When DS had a reaction to peanuts and (we thought) sesame, they tested him for all the nuts and a couple of other possibles too. That was initially with a skin prick test followed by a blood test. They may well test for other nuts.

Thanks Buffalo, can I ask did the GP do the tests or did your son have to get them done at the hospital?
